Thank you In this episode of Behind The Music, we span the life and career of Christina Aguilera, the sexy, brassy diva who stormed the pop music scene at the turn of the millennium. Christina reveals that her road to superstardom was not an easy one. Surviving an abusive childhood, the naturally gifted Christina pursued her dream to sing, starting at the age of 6. She endured vicious teasing by jealous classmates and won a role on the Mickey Mouse Club alongside Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. But the series was cancelled, leaving her career in limbo. In her late teens, she became a superstar overnight with her smash hit "Genie In A Bottle". But she says she struggled against a controlling record label to shape her own image. She ultimately reinvented herself with the outrageously sexual and controversial "Dirrty". But as she grew up before our very eyes, another side of Christina began to surface. As she dealt with repressed emotions from her childhood, Christina found herself sinking into a deep depression. The powerful ballad "Beautiful", written by Linda Perry, allowed her to vent and expose much of the pain she'd held on to all of her life. The song was a massive hit that redefined her career. And the album "Stripped" became global smash. Eventually, Christina met the man of her dreams in record executive Jordan Bratman, and found her way back to happiness. Christina would come full circle with the birth of her son Max in 2008. After a personal hiatus, she is storming back onto the scene with her new album Bionic and her controversial new video "Not Myself Tonight" In addition to Christina, Behind the Music has interviewed her mother Shelly Kearns, husband Jordan Bratman, Justin Timberlake, Linda Perry, Sia, Ron Fair, DJ Premiere, Herbie Hancock, and many others for this episode.
